The first insulin injection was given to a 14 year old boy in Canada on 11th January 1922 (according to wikipedia).

Since then, things have moved on enormously! A range of pumps are now available and injections and blood glucose meters are so much improved that I’m not sure that 14 year old boy, Leonard Thompson, would recognise them!

There are new developments and improvements being made all the time. A vaccine…. and a cure, are nearer than ever and until then, we have each other.
